Family Advisor Network (FAN)
The Family Advisor Network (FAN) is a partnership of current and former Children’s Health℠ patients, their families, and our team members. Creating this partnership has allowed us to shape our patient experience and remain focused on patient family-centered care.
What we do
Family advisors help us make meaningful changes in our organization by sharing their experiences, ideas and solutions. Some ways advisors help are:
- Identify issues and provide solutions
- Build relationships with leaders, doctors and other caregivers in our organizations to create open communication
- Share ideas on patient experience, including quality of care, access to services and amenities
- Plan and design of renovations or new facilities
We are better together
Children’s Health is committed to partnering with patients and their families in their care for better health outcomes. This is called patient and family-centered care, which has 4 guiding principles:
- We show all patients and those who love them dignity and respect when giving care regardless of the child or family’s background, culture, spiritual beliefs or values.
- We share information about your child’s care in a timely manner so you can make decisions about caring for them.
- We want patients and families to participate in their care at the level they feel comfortable.
- Collaboration and partnership help us make a care plan that works best for your family.
How can I become a FAN?
We thoughtfully evaluate and select candidates to serve as family advisors who share in our commitment to advancing the patient experience at Children’s Health.

Application process
- If we move forward with your application based on your interests, availability and our current program needs – including our focus on thoroughly representing the diverse patient population we serve – we’ll follow up with you via phone or email.
- One of our biggest priorities in building the Family Advisory Network is to have participants who represent the diverse patient population we serve at Children’s Health. To help us achieve this, please let us know how you believe your perspective is unique, which can include experiences related your education, career, language, religion, race, ethnicity, where you live, sexual orientation or family structure.
- If you are selected to become a family advisor, we’ll perform a background screening and you’ll need to complete immunization checks (as needed), training and orientation and other requirements before beginning in your role.
