Contact Dentistry & Orthodontics
At Children’s Health℠, we know that dental health is important to your child’s overall health and appearance. Our dentistry and orthodontics program addresses the entire range of needs, from routine and preventive care to treatment for complex dental problems, and from conventional orthodontics for the purpose of straightening teeth to specialized strategies for a variety of particular needs and situations. Our experts work with you and your child’s doctors to develop individualized treatment plans based on your child’s unique needs. Whether your child needs routine or special care, our experts will work with you to answer any questions and make sure your child is comfortable throughout examination and treatment.
Routine & Preventive Care
Our dentistry program is designed especially for children. We help prevent and treat dental and gum diseases in kids and adolescents through routine examinations, dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, and the application of protective dental sealants. We also provideage-appropriate education on caring for the teeth and gums and the importance of good dental hygiene habits. We recognize that children may be anxious about a visit to the dentist and we work with you to help explain what will happen during an examination or procedure.
Our dentists treat cavities with fillings; diagnose and treat gum disease; provide pulp therapy to restore or maintain the teeth, gums, and dental tissues; and can place caps or crowns to improve or restore the appearance of the teeth. They’re also specially trained to handle more complex or emergency situations and, in such cases, to provide oral sedation when necessary or desired. And our dental specialists are also prepared to care for any special needs if your child has an illness or disability that affects dental health.
Whether to correct a dental condition or give your child a brighter smile, our orthodontists work with you and your child’s doctors to develop individualized treatment plans and provide outstanding care while correcting irregularities in the teeth. Orthodontists normally use appliances such as braces or retainers to straighten teeth, perfect the bite, or close gaps between teeth. In young children they may provide orthodontic treatment to ensure that permanent teeth grow inappropriately.
In addition to providing more routine orthodontic care, our highly trained orthodontists collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team of specialists to provide treatment for even the most complex cases, including:
- Craniofacial orthodontics provides multidisciplinary consultations, diagnosis, treatment planning and procedures for a range of craniofacial anomalies and syndromes.
- Surgical orthodontics to correct a misaligned jaw or for children who may have trouble chewing, breathing, or speaking as a result of an irregularity.
