Biography

Melanie Shelburg, Au.D., CCC-A, is a certified audiologist at Children's Health℠ who cares for both adults and children with hearing loss.

Audiologists specialize in providing diagnostic, rehabilitative and other services for conditions that affect hearing and balance. They use tests to diagnose and treat these problems using techniques such as hearing aids, balance therapy or hearing rehabilitation. They also work closely with ear, nose and throat physicians (otolaryngologists) to care for the medical causes of hearing problems.

Dr. Shelburg earned her Bachelor of General Studies with a concentration in Science and Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences (Audiology), from Indiana University. Dr. Shelburg earned both with honors distinction. She earned her doctorate of audiology from University of Florida. She is a faculty associate at UT Southwestern, where she also serves as the audiology externship/student program coordinator. In this role, Dr. Shelburg coordinates schedules and rotations for audiology students.

At Children’s Health, Dr. Shelburg is a member of the pediatric hearing aid team. She provides hearing aid assessments, fittings and troubleshooting for children with hearing loss. Her goal is to help children find a comfortable, effective device that will help them participate in school, communicate with classmates and pursue their favorite activities.
