Volunteer commitment
Volunteers will commit to serving one 3-4 hour shift on the same day each week or one 3-4 hour shift biweekly on weekends.
Daytime program
One consistent shift/same day per week
Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.Evening program

Monday - Thursday: 5:30 p.m.to 8:30 p.m. Fridays: 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.Weekend program
One biweekly shift/ 1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th Saturday or
Sunday 2-4 hour shift between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.Pet Therapy program
We are accepting daytime, evening, and weekend applications for the Pet Therapy program.
Steps to becoming an adult volunteer:
1. Complete the volunteer assessment
2. Complete the interview process
3. Complete online training courses
4. Attend a Welcome Session
5. Complete a new volunteer health check with the Children’s Health Occupational Health and Wellness Department. The health check will include the following requirements:
An annual TB test
Flu vaccination (during flu season)
Proof of MMR vaccination series or positive blood titer
Proof of Varicella vaccination series or positive blood titer
Proof of Tdap or Td within the past 10 years
Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination series and positive blood titer

Daytime program

Daytime volunteer roles and responsibilities
Emergency Department
Emergency Department volunteers provide support and comfort to ED families by distributing blankets, snacks, activities, etc., providing directions, offering parents a break by keeping patients company as needed, and helping ensure the experience is as positive as possible.
Playroom
Playroom volunteers provide support to the Child Life staff by providing or assisting with activities for patients in the playroom.
Evening program
One consistent shift/same day per week
Monday - Thursday: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fridays: 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Evening volunteer roles and responsibilities
Ambassador
Ambassadors provide timely and friendly assistance to patients, patient families, and guests in need of directions/escort, assist with deliveries of gifts and mail, assist with transferring belongings and escorting admitting or discharging patients.
Baked with Love
Baked with Love volunteers bake cookies in the Volunteer Services office and distribute them to waiting and family rooms throughout the hospital including ICU and surgery waiting areas.
Comfort Cart
Comfort Cart volunteers take a cart full of personal care items to patient rooms and offer these necessities to patient families.
Playroom
Playroom volunteers provide support to the Child Life staff by providing or assisting with activities for patients in the playroom.
Weekend program
One biweekly shift/ 1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th Saturday or Sunday 2-4 hour shift between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Patient Pals provide companionship and play opportunities to patients of all ages while parent/guardian is unable to be in the room with them.
