Biofire Filmarray Bone and Joint Panel Performance and Utility Compared to Standard of Care Testing for the Diagnosis of Pediatric Septic Arthritis
Study ID: STU-2020-0295
The participants in this study will have a joint fluid sample collected from the site of infection during a standard of care inpatient collection procedure. The joint fluid sample will be tested in a microbiological laboratory using the BioFire BJi platform after sample collection. Laboratory test results will not be reported. over the course of this study, the researchers will obtain study data from medical records.
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the use of a microbiological test called Biofire Filmarray Bone and Joint infection (BJi) Panel for detecting microorganisms that contribute to the disease process of septic arthritis. The information that we learn by doing this study may help us improve the diagnosis and treatment of septic arthritis in children.
