Michelle Mahaffey

Michelle Mahaffey serves as Chief People Officer for Children’s Health℠. In this role, she leads the organization’s talent and people strategies, shaping an exceptional employee experience that supports the system’s values-based culture. She is responsible for attracting, engaging, developing and retaining top talent to advance the Children’s Health mission to make life better for children.

Prior to joining Children’s Health in 2026, Michelle served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Community Health Network, an Indianapolis-based integrated health system. She has more than 25 years of experience leading workforce transformation, aligning people strategy with organizational priorities and modernizing human resources operations in complex organizations.

Michelle earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. She has been named as one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “CHROs and Chief People Officers to Know.”
