Biography
Lauren Lazar, M.D., is a pediatric gastroenterologist who practices at Children’s Health℠.
She offers specialized care to children who have a wide range of issues involving their digestive system and gastrointestinal tract – including food allergies, reflux, obesity, malnutrition and diseases that impact the stomach, intestine, pancreas and liver.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine in Memphis. Afterward, she completed a pediatric residency and later performed her fellowship training at UT Southwestern.
Over the years, Dr. Lazar has earned several honors for her work, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Clinical Fellowship Training Grant and the Dallas’ Finest Award, which is presented by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Northeast Texas Chapter .
Today, Dr. Lazar has a special interest and expertise in helping children who have gastrointestinal manifestations of cystic fibrosis, including constipation, malnutrition, pancreatic insufficiency, recurrent pancreatitis and liver disease.
She enjoys encouraging young patients at Children’s Health who are trying to adopt healthy habits and make positive changes, and offers the following encouragement:
“Start small. Instead of setting big unattainable goals, set smaller goals you can accomplish. For example, with exercise, try to be active once a week for 30 minutes. Then, slowly build up until you’re active three times a week for 30 minutes. And see where you go from there. Set attainable goals and enjoy reaching them.”
Dr. Lazar serves on the Clinical Care and Quality Committee for the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN), the national pediatric GI organization. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Texas Pediatric Society.
When her schedule allows, Dr. Lazar enjoys traveling to new destinations and trying new restaurants around Dallas.
