Psychology Practicum

If you are a student from doctoral training programs accredited by the American Psychological Association, you may have the option to complete practicum experience at Children’s Medical Center.

The fifth largest pediatric hospital in the nation and one of the most esteemed, Children’s is a 559-bed facility with many areas of specialization, including: designated heart center, solid organ transplant, nephrology, hematology/oncology, intensive care, and neonatal intensive care unit. It’s only hospital in North Texas to be nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report in all 10 specialties assessed by the magazine and it’s the first pediatric hospital with a designated Level 1 trauma center.

Our strategic alliance with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center — a top-ranked, multifaceted academic institution nationally recognized for excellence in educating physicians, biomedical scientists, and other health-care professionals — ensures that students will have the distinct advantage of learning from and working alongside an elite group of leaders in their fields.
Decisions about practicum placements will be based on a number of factors, including:

  • Your previous training
  • Your future goal
  • Whether your interests match experiences available
  • The availability of supervisors

If you are interested in learning more about opportunities for practicum placements, send a message to Kymberli Combs at least 6 months prior to your desired start date.
