Biography
Christopher Cheng-Yu Liu, M.D., is a pediatric otolaryngologist at Children’s Health℠ and Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern. Dr. Liu specializes in the surgical treatment of head and neck tumors, thyroid cancer and vascular malformations (a type of birthmark made up of blood vessels) in children and infants. Dr. Liu employs a multidisciplinary approach and works closely with multiple subspecialists throughout the Children’s Health system to provide the best care for his patients. He is the ENT surgeon for the vascular malformations team as well as co-surgeon for the pediatric thyroid team.
He earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. As a medical student, he spent an additional year as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellow studying hearing physiology. He completed residency training in otolaryngology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Liu is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Liu has lectured nationally and internationally on topics like thyroid cancer and hemangiomas in infants. He is also the Associate Director for the Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship program. His work as a researcher and educator of medical students, residents and fellows helps improve the future of care for children.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Liu enjoys time with his wife and 2 children. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, staying active and playing basketball.
