How long will my appointment take?

AYA appointments can sometimes take several hours depending on the nature of the visit. We try to provide prompt care for all patients. In order to continue the service, we need your help.

  • Late Arrivals - Late arrivals may be asked to reschedule.
  • No Shows - After multiple no-shows, you may be asked to choose another physician.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

To avoid unnecessary testing, bring relevant medical records, test results and radiographs to the appointment.

For appointments related to weight management, the patient may not eat or drink anything 8 hours before the appointment. This makes sure that the blood tests give correct information on blood sugar (glucose), cholesterol, triglycerides and more.

What should I bring to my appointment

  1. All of your medicines
  2. Any questions you have for your doctor
  3. Any forms that need to be filled out
  4. Your insurance card and parent picture ID

**Tests may be ordered. If you are unsure where your preferred lab is, check with your insurance provider.

How do I contact the AYA department?

One of our nurses can be reached at our main clinic number, 214-456-9099. If you reach the voicemail, please leave a message. Calls will be returned by the next business day. We will return more urgent calls as soon as possible.

Some minor problems may be handled over the phone. If an appointment is needed, every effort will be made to see you in a timely manner. For certain needs, you may be asked to contact your primary care physician. Other urgent issues may be referred to the Emergency Department/ER at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

How do I get my medication refilled?

If you have a medication need, contact us through MyChart or at 214-456-9099. For refill requests, please contact us at least seven (7) days before you run out of medication.

What is MyChart, and how do I register?
