Biography

Rohit Sharma, M.D., is a surgeon at Children’s Health℠ who is one of the few surgical oncologists who specializes in soft-tissue sarcomas, melanomas and other complex skin cancers.

Dr. Sharma earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed a general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He joined the UT Southwestern Division of Surgical Oncology in 2009.

When Dr. Sharma meets with patients, he makes sure he spends time in person to help them understand their disease and options for treatment. He guides them through the decisions they need to make, from treatment to recovery.

"I want to be a part of the process with them, every step of the way," he says.

Dr. Sharma’s research interests include cancer metastasis, tumor immunology and health care disparities related to melanoma and soft-tissue sarcoma. He also seeks novel therapies for managing sarcomas and related tumors, especially in the areas of combination therapies and evaluating mechanisms of resistance.
