Biography
Monserat Olmos, APRN, PNP-AC/PC, is a Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology at Children’s Health℠. She has a special interest in transplant medicine and patient advocacy. Her care philosophy is to communicate openly, listen carefully and work together with patients and families to make the best care decisions.
“My passion for this specialty is rooted in my own life experience,” she says. “I am here today because of a liver transplant I received due to biliary atresia. From a very young age, I was introduced to the world of medicine not as a student or observer, but as a patient fighting for my life. I spent countless hours in hospitals, surrounded by physicians, nurses and transplant teams who not only treated me but inspired me.”
Olmos earned her graduate nursing degree from Texas Woman’s University College of Nursing and a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate from The University of Texas at Arlington.
“Living through the experience of chronic illness, surgery and recovery gave me a profound understanding of what it means to receive care that is both technically excellent and deeply compassionate,” she says. “It taught me resilience, perspective, and the value of hope. Most importantly, it ignited a lifelong desire to give back and to be for others what my health care team was for me.”
Outside of medicine, Olmos enjoys spending quality time with her daughter and family. She is also a big dog lover and enjoys being outdoors and playing with her pets whenever she can.
