Biography

Gretchen Enid Sandoval Colón, M.D., is a Pediatric Pulmonologist at Children’s Health℠. Her clinical interests include asthma, caring for technology-dependent children and suppurative lung diseases.

“I love having the opportunity to help children breathe better, stay active and enjoy a better quality of life while building long-term relationships with patients and their families,” Dr. Sandoval says. “I’m especially passionate about educating families in a way they can understand and providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care, particularly for non-English-speaking patients and underserved communities.”

Dr. Sandoval earned her Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. She earned her medical degree from San Juan Bautista School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital. She then completed a pediatric pulmonology fellowship at UT Health Houston, where she served as Chief Fellow.

Dr. Sandoval enjoys getting to know her patients as individuals and learning about their lives and interests beyond their diagnoses. She strives to create an environment where every family feels comfortable, heard and supported while building relationships that continue as children grow.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Sandoval enjoys spending quality time with her family. She loves exploring local parks and attractions, embarking on family adventures, and discovering new restaurants and destinations where they can create lasting memories together.
