Biography

Cheyanne Collins, Au.D., is a clinical audiologist with Children’s Health℠. She cares for children of all ages who have hearing and balance disorders.

Audiologists specialize in providing diagnostic, rehabilitative and other services for conditions that affect hearing and balance. They use tests to diagnose and treat these problems using techniques such as hearing aids, balance therapy or hearing rehabilitation. They also work closely with ear, nose and throat physicians (otolaryngologists) to care for the medical causes of hearing problems.

Dr. Collins graduated with summa cum laude distinction from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in speech, language and hearing sciences. In 2018, she earned her doctorate in audiology from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Collins is a faculty associate at UT Southwestern in the Department of Otolaryngology-Audiology. She performs hearing evaluations to check the function of the outer, middle and inner ear. These tests include otoscopy, air/bone audiometry, conditioned play audiometry, visual reinforcement audiometry, otoacoustic emissions testing, acoustic reflex testing and tympanometry.

Early childhood intervention is important to Dr. Collins. While at Texas Tech University, she collaborated with students in speech language pathology, physical therapy and occupational therapy to evaluate toys for use as therapy tools by parents in the home.

In the community, Dr. Collins enjoys volunteer work. She has worked with Wheel Times, Inc., to facilitate sports for children in wheelchairs. She has also volunteered with the Little League Challenger Program, which supports and encourages special needs children who play baseball.
