Biography

Kelly Parsons, M.D., is a primary care physician board-certified in pediatrics. She cares for children and families at Children’s Health℠, providing preventive and acute care for newborns, children and adolescents. Dr. Parsons is interested in promoting healthy living, preventive care and injury prevention. “I love being the front-line caregiver for children and their families.” She offers parenting strategies and enjoys helping families navigate the tremendous blessings and challenges of raising healthy and happy children. “Helping kids feel better after making a diagnosis is very rewarding.” Dr. Parsons says her patients bring so much joy and make her laugh every day.

Dr. Parsons earned a Bachelor of Science in human biology from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with the highest honor. She earned her medical degree and completed her pediatric residency at UT Southwestern. She is a member of the Texas Pediatric Injury Prevention Committee and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

While in medical school, Dr. Parsons was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society. She also received the Kurt Ian Wey, M.D., Senior Pediatric Award and Scholarship, awarded for showing compassion for sick children, having significant knowledge and maintaining a good sense of humor.

As a native Texan from Dallas-Fort Worth, Dr. Parsons is happy to serve the area she calls home. “I pride myself on being thorough with every patient and truly enjoy my job.”

Dr. Parsons was a co-creator and instructor for a medical student course to advance skills in primary care, telemedicine and HEADSS examination (home, education, activities/employment, drugs, suicidality and sex) as part of a larger transition to residency courses. She is also a presenter and has given lectures on medical ethics, the flu and fish oil and dysmenorrhea. Dr. Parsons also conducted basic science research on mammalian myogenesis pathways and rhabdomyosarcoma.

She enjoys paddle boarding, traveling, hiking, and attending church in her free time. Dr. Parsons lives in Rockwall with her husband, daughter, and dog.
