Biography

Aishwarya Devarakonda, M.D., is board-certified in general pediatrics and works with children and families at Children's Health℠ as a pediatric hospitalist. Dr. Devarakonda takes care of acutely ill children. Her clinical interests include medical education and quality improvement initiatives. “I am passionate about my specialty because I can take care of children and young adults,” says Dr. Devarakonda, a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at UT Southwestern. She is dedicated to providing compassionate and respectful care to her patients and their families.

Dr. Devarakonda earned her medical degree from Texas A&M University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Phoenix Children's Hospital and her pediatric hospitalist fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She received several honors and awards, including graduating with honors and receiving the Academic Excellence Scholarship, Distinction Level. She is also the Honors Recipient for her thesis on Parkinson's disease with dementia.

Dr. Devarakonda is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics, the Academic Pediatric Association, and the Texas Pediatric Society (TPS) and serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics TPS Committee on Hospital Care. 

She is also a lecturer and has presented on the topic, TB, or Not TB? A Diagnostic Conundrum Complicated by Poor Communication in the Setting of a Rare Disease. Dr. Devarakonda is also a researcher and works on quality improvement measures. She has researched food insecurity screening documentation, how to improve critical care documentation in intermediate care and ways to improve discharge summaries.

Dr. Devarakonda speaks Telugu and is a conversational Spanish speaker. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and reading.
