Pediatric Urinary Urgency and/or Frequency
Urinary urgency and/or frequency means having to go to the bathroom more often than usual, with a sudden, strong urge to urinate.
Urinary urgency means that a child gets a sudden, strong urge to urinate. Urinary frequency means that a child needs to use the restroom more frequently than usual.
Causes of urinary urgency and/or frequency include:
- Leakage of urine from the urethra (tube that carries urine from the bladder outside the body)
- Swelling and infection of the urethra
- Urinary tract infection (UTI)
- Vaginitis (swelling or discharge of the vulva and vagina)
