Psychiatry and Psychology Treatment Areas
Children's Health℠ specializes in treating children and adolescents with combined medical and psychiatric problems. Inpatient pediatric psychiatry programs include General Psychiatry and Inpatient Eating Disorders.
Emotional problems can be overwhelming for your child and troubling for you as a parent. When it becomes evident that the issues require outside intervention, Children’s Health℠ is there to provide the most appropriate, compassionate and effective treatment options.
A child’s mental health can positively or negatively affect her overall health. Poor mental health can lead to eating disorders, substance abuse or suicide. Depending on the nature of the problem, you and your child—and your family—will benefit from the medical aid of a psychiatrist, psychologist or neuropsychologist.
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) at Children’s Health℠ are available for young people with eating disorders or suicidal behaviors. IOP is less intensive than hospitalization or day treatment, and is more appropriate for youth who may need more than weekly treatment.
More than 1,800 new patients a year are evaluated through the psychiatry consult and liaison service, which provides psychiatric consultation to the medical services at Children's Health℠.
