David Atkinson, M.D., is the medical director of the Teen Recovery Program Children’s Health℠ specializing in aggression, behavioral treatments and adolescent substance use. Dr. Atkinson treats substance abuse disorder and addiction with the understanding that it’s a pediatric disease, usually developing during adolescence. During treatment, he works with both patients and parents to help the teen overcome a condition many providers are uncomfortable discussing. Both the substance use and the psychiatric conditions are treated as primary conditions, needing individual attention.
