Summary

A pilomatrixoma is a benign tumor of the hair follicle. They usually present as a hard lump just beneath the skin. The majority of these masses are located on the head or neck.

Symptoms

These small tumors usually do not cause symptoms but can become tender or painful when they are infected.

Treatment

Even though these tumors are benign, they will not go away on their own and surgical resection is recommended.
