Our surgeons have extensive, specialized experience, having performed thousands of pediatric surgeries. Each member of our team is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in Pediatric Surgery.

Adam Alder

Adam Alder, M.D., is a surgeon at Children’s Health℠ with interests in pediatric and neonatal surgery. He is Director of the Center for Pectus and Chest Wall Anomalies and Chief of Pediatric Surgery for Children's Health Plano campus. He is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans and trained in general surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Alder also completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children's Medical Center and UT Southwestern.

Alana Beres

Alana L Beres, M.D., earned her medical degree from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, where she also completed residencies in general surgery and pediatric surgery. Dr. Beres completed another residency in general surgery at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, followed by a fellowship in pediatric surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children. in Toronto.

Diana Leigh Diesen

Diana Diesen

Diana Diesen, M.D., is a pediatric surgeon and the Pediatric Surgery fellowship program director at Children’s Health℠. Dr. Diesen earned her medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, completed her residency in surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, and completed her fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children's Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Stephen Megison

Dr. S. Mark Megison is the medical director of Trauma Services at Children's Health℠. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. In addition to an internship and residency in general surgery at UT Southwestern, Dr. Megison completed a fellowship in surgery at UT Southwestern and another in pediatric surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His interests include resident education, pediatric surgical oncology and thoracic congenital malformation.

Joseph Murphy

Joseph Murphy, M.D., is a surgeon at Children’s Health℠ who serves on the Children’s Health Medical Advisory Board and Credentials Committee. Dr. Murphy earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern and stayed there to complete a general surgery residency and CORE laboratory research fellowship. As a board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Murphy has extensive clinical experience in management of severe traumatic injury, thermal injury and critically ill patients.

Faisal Qureshi

Faisal Qureshi, M.D., is a pediatric bariatric surgeon at Children's Health℠. Dr. Qureshi is certified by the American Board of Surgery in pediatric surgery. In addition to his extensive training in general and pediatric surgery, Dr. Qureshi trained in minimally invasive bariatric surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His work focuses on helping teens dealing with obesity.

David Schindel

David Schindel, M.D., earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center, completed his residency in general surgery at Indiana University Medical Center and completed his fellowship in pediatric surgery at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. His interests include congenital surgery, pediatric oncology surgery and minimally invasive surgical approaches.
