Bariatric Program

Get Up & Go

Empowering adolescents with the tools they need to succeed

The decision to undergo bariatric weight loss surgery is a big step for teens and their families. Get Up & Go by Children’s Health℠ supported by Kohl’s Cares offers a virtual fun and educational program led by a dietitian and social worker that will help your child on his/her journey to lose weight before and after surgery. Each class includes a 30-minute support group session where participants have the opportunity to discuss their journey and offer each other support. Long term success stems from building lifelong healthy habits. Our goal in the Bariatric Program is to help your child lose weight – and keep it off for good.

Finding support, understanding together

Weight loss can be an emotional and rewarding experience. The clinicians in our Bariatric Weight Management Program help answer your child’s questions and assist in preparing them for the journey that will lead them to a healthier weight. Teens will also have the opportunity to connect and share their feelings with others who are facing the same challenges.

The seven-week class covers:

  • Class 1: Orientation
  • Class 2: Food Tracking with MyFitnessPal
  • Class 3: Self-Monitoring
  • Class 4: Mindful Eating
  • Class 5: Planning for Success
  • Class 6: Meal Planning
  • Class 7: Graduation
