Children’s Health℠ has been acknowledged for innovations in health information technology with the following recognitions and awards:
Texas Covered Entity Privacy and Security Certification
In 2014, Children’s Health became the first, and currently the only, hospital in Texas to receive the Texas Covered Entity Privacy and Security Certification by the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA) and the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST).
The Certification Program honors organizations that meet both state and federal privacy and security regulations. By achieving this certification, we are recognized as a health care leader demonstrating our commitment to protect the privacy of our patients’ health care information.
For eight of the last 10 years, Children’s Health has been on Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine’s Most Wired list. The list is based on results of the magazine’s Most Wired survey, which measures the level of information technology adoption in U.S. hospitals and health systems.
HIMSS Davies Enterprise Award of Excellence
In 2013, Children’s Health was the recipient of the Enterprise HIMSS Davies Award for deployment and use of EMR across the organization.The Nicholas E. Davies Award recognizes excellence in the use of health information technology to successfully improve the delivery of health care and patient safety.
HIMSS Stage 7
Since 2005, HIMSS Analytics has tracked the adoption of electronic medical records (EMR) applications within hospitals and health systems across the U.S. Hospitals work to complete each stage of adoption, with the ultimate goal of reaching a Stage 7. Children’s Health was the first hospital in Texas to reach Stage 7. As a Stage 7 health care organization, Children’s Health is recognized for delivering patient data in a way that ultimately improves process performance, quality of care and patient safety.
Information Week 500
Each year, Information Week 500 recognizes the most innovative users of business technology in the U.S. Children’s Health has been repeatedly named to the Information Week 500 list. In 2013, Children’s Health was named to the publication’s prestigious Top 100 list, jumping nearly 100 spots, up from 122 in 2012, to No. 25.
InformationWeek 500 Business Innovation Award
In 2012, Children’s Health won the Information Week 500 Business Innovation Award for incorporating social networking into patient treatment. Improving the online experience for patient families began in 2011 with the launch of the Children’s Social Network.
This network includes social media sites for every patient population at Children’s Health, where participating families can create a profile and share experiences and struggles they go through in the course of their child’s treatment.
