Family Support Services

When a child needs medical care, the entire family is affected. Children’s Health understands that there are many other concerns besides the medical issue, and we want to ensure that your child’s treatment is all inclusive.

Our Patient Care Concierge serves as a liaison between health care providers, patients and patient families.

For Pastoral Care services our chaplains are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide spiritual support, comfort and guidance for your child and family during your stay.

Our School Services provide in-hospital school to help your child continue schoolwork while he or she is at Children's.  School consultation helps children transition back to school after being in the hospital.

Our social workers work to ensure that the best interests of the patient are met so you can focus on your child’s care.

Children’s Health focuses on a family-friendly environment to help make your visits as convenient and comfortable as possible.

Activities for Kids

Being in the hospital, in unfamiliar surroundings, can be difficult for an adult, but it can be even more troubling to a child, especially one who hasn’t had such an experience before or who is feeling unwell.

We have Child Life specialists who are experienced at assessing how a child is adjusting to illness through “medical play.” Medical play is all about encouraging children to explore medical equipment – in a way that might even be fun – by using a doll or stuffed animal.

Playrooms are located on several floors and offer a variety of organized activities for children each day. Activities for patients might include arts and crafts projects, a game of pool or a lesson on the computer.

Other choices include visits to Seacrest Studios, Art Studio and Godly Play interactive storytelling.
