Children diagnosed with movement disorders cope with involuntary muscle movements in various parts of their body. At Children’s Health, we offer patients diagnosed with a movement disorder every existing treatment tool available to control and manage their condition. Treatment options may include medication, Botox, physical and occupational therapy, deep brain stimulation and counseling-based therapies.
The Neuro-Concussion and Neuro-Headache program offers comprehensive care by using the latest evidence based practice and a multi-disciplinary approach to care. Providers who specialize in pediatric Neurology and Pain Management ensure every patient receives the highest level of care and a unique treatment plan to meet their specific needs.
The team of pediatric physiatrists under the direction of Robert Rinaldi, M.D., specialize in physical rehabilitation after an injury to teach healing muscles and nerves to work again. Physiatrists are trained to diagnose and treat patients with a tailored treatment plan to restore or improve functions such as speech and language or movement. The physiatrist works with a team of professionals who help patients with specific activities, such as occupational or speech therapy.
Serving children in the North Texas area for more than 20 years, our program is led by Andrew Gelfand, MD, pediatric pulmonologist. We have a renowned team of pulmonologists who provide care for pediatric patients who are on a ventilator and/or are trach dependent. Patients are typically those who have sustained a neurologic or traumatic injury or have immature lungs which have affected their ability to breathe.
The Children’s Health Specialty Center at Cityville team provides comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation evaluation and therapy services for a wide range of conditions. Patients have access to Physical Medicine specialists as well as physical and occupational therapists, feeding specialists and speech language pathologists who all work together to deliver care tailored specifically to each child. This clinic also features a Comprehensive Gait and Mobility Program, one of only three of its kind in the United States.
