Nurses in Children’s 36-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) care for neonates with complex needs, including surgical management of patients with ENT problems, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (EMCO) evaluations, transplant evaluations, neurology and neurosurgery issues, cardiac rhythm disturbances, cardiac repair and chemotherapy.
Our nurses provide exceptional care tailored to the specific needs of babies. As the premier referral NICU in the North Texas area, a child’s well-being is our first priority.
Neonatal nurse practitioners have advanced training in caring for critically ill newborns. Neonatal nurses act as both a resource and educator for patients. Our nurses receive highly specialized training, including a 16-week Neonatal Intensive Care Residency. This residency prepares registered nurses for practice in the complex environment of a Level III NICU. They are an important part of the team caring for our tiniest patients.
