Children’s Medical Center President and CEO Christopher J. Durovich named “Who’s Who in Health Care” by Dallas Business Journal

Children’s Medical Center is proud to announce its President and CEO, Christopher J. Durovich, has been named to the 2013 Dallas Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Health Care.” The list recognizes 25 health care professionals whose innovative work is making a positive impact on the health care industry in North Texas.

During Durovich’s decade as CEO of Children’s, the hospital has been named one of the top pediatric hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for all seven years the report has existed. In 2013, Children’s maintained its ranking in each of the 10 pediatric specialty programs evaluated by U.S. News for the third consecutive year, and is the only hospital in North Texas ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties.

Throughout Durovich’s leadership of the fifth-largest pediatric hospital in the U.S., Children’s has received numerous awards and recognitions including: earning the designation as a Magnet organization – the highest national recognition granted to a hospital or medical center for excellence in nursing given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center; achieving the first Level I pediatric trauma center accreditation in Texas; receiving Joint Commission accreditation in seven disease management programs and accreditation by the National Cancer Institute; and recognition of its Dallas and Plano campuses as a “Best Place to Work” by the Dallas Business Journal, The Dallas Morning News, and Becker’s Hospital Review.

In 2013 alone, Children’s became nationally recognized for technology as a “Most Wired” Hospital by Hospitals and Health Networks, was  ranked 25th in InformationWeek 500 as an innovative user of information technology, and became the first hospital in the U.S. to have each member of its respiratory therapy staff Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS) certified. In September, Children’s launched the state’s first dedicated neonatal telemedicine program – the Children’s Medical Center TeleNICU.

“This recognition is an honor and is truly a reflection of the caliber of our team at Children’s,” says Durovich. “It is my distinct privilege to come to work each day and join our medical professionals and dedicated colleagues who are committed to providing the highest quality care to make life better for children.”

Durovich has more than 30 years of leadership experience in adult and pediatric health care and physician practice management. He also serves in national roles as the chairman of the board of the Children’s Hospital Association and on the board of the American Hospital Association. Prior to joining Children’s in 2003, he served in leadership roles at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Michigan Health System, Northwestern University Medical School, the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He also served as a captain on active duty in the U.S. Army’s Medical Service Corps.
