Children’s Health celebrates 11 years of recognition as a leader in pediatric health care
DALLAS (June 15, 2021) – Children’s Health, one of the largest and most prestigious pediatric health care providers in the country and the leading pediatric health care system in North Texas, proudly announces that Children’s Medical Center Dallas, its flagship hospital, has once again been recognized among the nation’s best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for 2021-2022. Children’s Medical Center Dallas is the only hospital in North Texas ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties in the U.S. News & World Report annual Best Children’s Hospital report, which is based on patient treatment outcomes, clinical resources and compliance with best practices.
“In a year of immense challenges in the health care industry, we are incredibly humbled and honored to receive this recognition from U.S. News & World Report,” said Christopher J. Durovich, president and chief executive officer at Children’s Health. “This designation highlights our team’s continued perseverance and dedication to our mission of making life better for children – even in the midst of a global pandemic. To be ranked in 10 out of 10 pediatric specialties is a true testament to the work by our team and partners at UT Southwestern Medical Center to ensure the highest quality of care to our patients and their families, regardless of the circumstances.”
The U.S. News & World Report rankings are the most comprehensive source of trusted information on U.S. pediatric hospitals, compiled with the purpose of providing families a reliable starting point as they decide where to receive pediatric care for their children. This is the eleventh year Children’s Health has been recognized with this distinction. In addition to this ranking, Children’s Health continues to garner national recognition as a result of its world-renowned pediatric physicians, innovative technology and academic affiliation with UT Southwestern – one of the premier academic medical centers in the nation.
“As the physicians who care for patients at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, our UT Southwestern Pediatric Group faculty share a commitment to innovative and compassionate care for children and their families,” said Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, president of UT Southwestern Medical Center. “National recognition across all 10 specialties reviewed by U.S. News & World Report further underscores the excellence of our delivery on that commitment.”
To create the pediatric rankings, U.S. News & World Report gathers key clinical data from more than 190 medical centers through a detailed survey that evaluates measures such as patient safety, infection prevention and adequacy of nurse staffing. In addition, part of each hospital’s score is derived from surveys of more than 20,000 pediatric specialists who are asked where they would send the sickest children in their specialty.
