Children’s Health Only Texas Health System Named to the InformationWeek Elite 100

DALLAS, TX – Children’s Health℠ was recently named to the InformationWeek Elite 100 and was the only health system in Texas to make the list. This prestigious award recognizes the nation’s most innovative users of information technology.

This year, Children’s Medical Center Dallas was recognized for the innovative use of technology to deliver care to Neonatal ICU patients in remote locations via Children’s Health TeleNICU program. This telemedicine program provides patients in remote hospitals and facilities with 24/7 access to the Children’s Health Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and the expertise of the UT Southwestern Neonatologists, caring for babies in the Children’s Health NICU.

“We are thrilled to be named to the InformationWeek Elite 100. This honor is a testament to the value our organization places on the use and adoption of technology for the delivery of care to our patients,” explained Pamela Arora, senior vice president and chief information officer at Children’s Health. “This year we highlighted the Children’s Health TeleNICU program because it provides access to the best specialty care for families with complex medical needs, frequently preventing an unnecessary transport to a Level IV facility outside their community.”

Children’s Level IV NICU represents the highest possible level of care for neonatal patients. Our ability to connect with remote Level III and lower NICUs innovates care delivery by enabling neonatologists at Children’s Health to collaborate with remote physicians caring for neonates.

“Children’s Heath strives to continuously improve the quality of care delivered to our patients, and the TeleNICU program allows us to accomplish that goal in a new and innovative way with an even greater impact on care delivery in the region and across the state,” said Doug Hock, president and chief operating officer of Children’s Medical Center Dallas and executive vice president of clinical services for Children’s Health.

Numerous teams collaborated across the system to make the TeleNICU program possible. Children’s Health continues to make great strides sustaining and growing this and other innovative programs.
