Shelly Renee Jones, Au.D., is a clinical audiologist at Children’s Health℠ who cares for patients of all ages with hearing and balance disorders.
Audiologists specialize in providing diagnostic, rehabilitative and other services for conditions that affect hearing and balance. They use tests to diagnose and treat these problems using techniques such as hearing aids or hearing rehabilitation. They also work closely with ear, nose and throat physicians (otolaryngologists) to care for the medical causes of hearing loss.
Dr. Jones earned a doctorate in audiology from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, School of Audiology in 2005. She earned a Master of Science in audiology in 1989 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in communication disorders from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1987.
At Children’s Health, Dr. Jones evaluates and treats young patients in the Pediatric Audiology and Pediatric Ear Nose and Throat departments.
Dr. Jones performs a wide range of testing to diagnose hearing issues – including acoustic reflex, auditory brainstem response, conditioned play audiometry, otoacoustic emissions and visual reinforcement audiometry. She is also highly skilled in evaluations and fittings for hearing aids.
For patients who are struggling with balance issues, Dr. Jones uses many assessment methods – including videonystagmography, platform posturography and video head impulse testing.
Dr. Jones serves as a faculty associate with University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
She is certified through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
