Biography
A pediatric gastroenterologist, John M. Andersen, M.D., is Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Andersen provides care for children of all ages who have gastrointestinal conditions, specializing in hepatology.
Dr. Andersen earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his internship in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and a fellowship in gastroenterology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His specialties include chronic abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease and liver transplantation.
In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Andersen served as Captain in the United States Air Force. He is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Pediatrics. He has received numerous awards and honors in his field, and has been published multiple times on related topics.
