Biography
Ellen Grishman, M.D., Pediatric Endocrinologist and the Director of Pediatric Endocrinology Clinical Research at Children’s Health and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern, treats children with conditions that affect the endocrine glands and hormones, such as thyroid problems, puberty problems, diabetes and obesity.
As a researcher, Dr. Grishman aims to help doctors understand health problems and find new treatments. She received a grant from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation to determine if certain markers in the body are associated with depressive symptoms in children with obesity. She has also done type 1 diabetes research, studying the inflammation and pathways that play a role in the disease. Her research has been funded by organizations like the North and Central Translational Science Initiative and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Dr. Grishman earned her medical degree from Creighton University Medical School. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at University Hospitals of Cleveland and a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at UT Southwestern/Children’s Health. Most recently, she was a Clinical Research Scholar at UT Southwestern, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Research, supported by the National Institutes of Health Clinical Translational Science Awards.
In her spare time, Dr. Grishman likes to travel, read and spend time with her family.
