Surgery Overview

Children’s Medical Center Surgery is one of the busiest pediatric surgical centers in North Texas. We provide general and specialized surgical treatment to newborns, infants, children and adolescents. We perform over 26,000 surgical procedures annually at four locations.

We have more than 150 surgical providers on medical staff. Approximately one third of those providers are primarily located at one of our Children’s locations. We provide numerous clinical programs and services in 15 pediatric surgical subspecialties which include:

At our Dallas and Legacy campuses, we provide 24 hour coverage for surgical consultation and care. We are the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in North Texas, and we were the first pediatric hospital to obtain Level 1 designation in the state of Texas. This designation is given by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), a national association of surgeons whose goal is to improve surgical quality and set high standards for surgical education and practice.

Our surgical providers are committed to providing the highest quality of care to every child. Our providers have completed specialized training in pediatric subspecialties and have performed thousands of procedures on children.

Our provider teams include specially trained anesthesiologists, advanced practice professionals, nurses and staff who are involved in the surgical care process and are committed to excellent patient care. At Children’s, we also offer numerous family support services, such as Child Life, Language Access Services, Social Work and Pastoral Care to help our patients and families during their surgical experience.
