Gastroschisis

What to Expect

A complete team dedicated to your baby

At Children's, our patients and their families are at the center of everything we do. From the building's design to the focus of staff members, everything is centered on the special care your baby needs and your experience here.

A full team of specialists in gastroschisis treatment and related abnormalities work in coordination to provide complete care at Children's. In addition to pediatric surgeons and pediatric anesthesiologists, the care team includes specially trained nurses, lactation consultants and feeding experts, as well as specialists in other areas you or your baby may need. Experts in these other areas are standing by to join the team at a moment's notice.

Parents who receive a fetal diagnosis of gastroschisis meet with a full team of specialists at Children's throughout the pregnancy to plan the care their baby will receive. A neonatal nurse with advanced training serves as the team coordinator and personal resource for the parents.
