Caretakers

You will meet lots of people that will be taking care of YOU on the day of your surgery:

Nurse

A nurse takes special care of YOU on the day of your surgery.  You will have lots of them.  They may take your vital signs, give you medicine, or make you feel comfortable.

Surgeon

This is the doctor that will perform your surgery ("look" at something or "fix" something to help your body).

Anesthesiologist

This is the doctor that will give you your anesthesia.  Anesthesia is the special medicine that will make you fall asleep for your surgery and makes it so that NOTHING can hurt you.  This doctor will make sure that you stay asleep the WHOLE time and monitor how your body is working while it gets this medicine.  When your surgery is over, this doctor will stop giving you medicine and you will wake up.
