Plastic and Craniofacial Surgery: What to Expect

Hand Surgery Clinic Appointments

Before your appointment

You will need to prepare to bring any images and/or reports related to your child’s diagnosis to the appointment.

During your appointment

You will need to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to allow for completion of consents, photos, cast/splint removal, xrays, and vital signs to be taken.

Check in at registration on the 1st floor of the Pavilion at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

After you register on the 1st floor, take the elevators up to the 4th floor and arrive at F4200 – The Fogelson Plastic Surgery and Craniofacial Center. Check in at the front desk of the clinic where you will be given consents to complete.

Prior to being placed in an exam room, your child will be weighed and measured.  A medical photographer will take photos of your child for the medical record to provide visual documentation of your child’s condition at each step of the process.

You and your child will meet with the surgeon at this time to discuss his/her assessment and plan of care for surgery.  You may also need to meet with an Occupational Therapist at this time as well at which time you can do so during your appointment with the surgeon.

If it is determined that surgery is the option that you decide to go with, you will meet with a surgery scheduler to discuss insurance, dates, and times regarding the procedure.

After your appointment

The notes from your visit will be sent to your child’s primary care provider and/or referring provider.

Any questions that you have, we ask that you contact the clinic at 214-456-2240.
