Orthopaedics: Why Children's

When your child is cared for by the Children’s Orthopaedic team, you can assure that it’s from one of the best.

The Orthopaedics department at Children’s is widely recognized as one of the best pediatric programs in the United States. In 2009, both U.S.News & World Report and Parents magazine ranked the department as one of the Top 5 of its kind in the nation. The orthopaedic service is provided by Children’s Medical Center and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children through The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Orthopaedic experts at Children’s treat more children with bone fractures than any other medical center in North Texas. Yet, fractures aren’t all we do. Our staff cares for children with a variety of orthopaedic problems — from routine injuries to rare musculoskeletal infections and sports medicine. Five full-time pediatric orthopaedic surgeons as well as an expert clinical staff are dedicated to the care of your child. Their range of expertise includes:

  • Traumatic injuries
  • Sports medicine
  • Musculoskeletal infections
  • Hip disorders
  • Limb length discrepancies
  • Hand injuries

Our physicians also are faculty members of the orthopaedic department at UT Southwestern. There, they have access to and participate in research that is instrumental in developing treatments, therapies and a greater understanding of pediatric diseases. As a result, patients who visit Children’s always receive the most current and effective orthopaedic treatments available.
