About Us

The Pediatric Demyelinating Disease Program at Children’s Medical Center Dallas offers comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care for children affected by a variety of rare autoimmune conditions. We are one of only two comprehensive Transverse Myelitis Programs in the world, and we have been treating patients since 2009.

Conditions we treat include:
• Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
• Anti-NMDAR encephalitis
• Autoimmune encephalitis
• Multiple sclerosis
• Neuromyelitis optica (NMO, also known as Devic’s disease)
• Transverse myelitis

We specialize in the acute and chronic care of children who have had central nervous system injuries from inflammatory conditions. We manage medical and surgical issues and provide the following services:
• Evaluations for novel treatment protocols
• Immunomodulation
• Immunosuppression
• Neuropsychological assessments
• Programs in nerve transplant procedure
• Rehabilitation
• School performance evaluations
• Symptom management
• Urologic evaluations
• Vision testing
