Cooking Classes
Do you ever struggle as a parent of a child with food allergies on what to prepare for your child? The Food Allergy Center hosts free cooking classes for parents featuring safe and tasty meals avoiding the top eight allergens. The class is led by Children’s Executive Chef, Chris Hensel and the recipes are designed by our Registered Dietitian, April Clark. During class, recipes are demonstrated, taste testing is encouraged and every participant receives a free recipe book. This class is open to the community with only a RSVP required. Food Allergy Summer Camp
Children’s Food Allergy Camp is the best place in the world for kids who have food allergies. Campers, ages 7 to 15, have fun, increase their confidence, affirm their virtues and build lifelong friendships. Food Allergy Camp is held at Camp Sweeney in Gainesville, Texas.
At camp, having a food allergy is just another part of life. The registered dietitian from the Children’s Food Allergy Center creates menus individually tailored to each camper’s need. The top eight allergens-- milk, egg, wheat, soy, peanut, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish -- are avoided completely at camp. Tasty and safe meals are prepared for the kids along with two snacks daily.
