Food Allergy Center: Why Children's?
The Food Allergy Center at Children’s Medical Center works towards finding a cure and improving the quality of life for children and families dealing with food allergies.
With the rise in food allergies in infants and children, Children’s Medical Center Dallas, in association with UT Southwestern, has opened the only academic-affiliated pediatric food allergy center in North Texas. The Food Allergy Center at Children’s treats a broad range of allergic diseases and conducts research instrumental in the development and treatment of children with food allergies.
Food Allergy Prevalence Rises
Investigators have reported an 18% rise in the prevalence of food allergy in children under 18 years of age over the past decade. The most recent research has shown that 1 in every 13 children in the United States has a food allergy, approximately 2 children in every classroom.
