The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center offers a multidisciplinary approach to epilepsy care for children with seizures and seizure disorders. The first Pediatric Epilepsy Program in the country to be certified through The Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care program, recognizing excellence in Epilepsy Care. These specialists work together to meet the full range of epilepsy care needs including:

• Care and education after a first seizure
• Second opinions for complicated epilepsy
• Epilepsy surgical evaluations
• Resective surgical procedures 
• Ketogenic diet therapy
• Vagal nerve stimulation
• Access to latest treatments and experimental trials
• Treatment with antiepileptic medications (current and investigational)
• Stereotactic radiosurgery (with Gamma Knife)  

Epilepsy Center Highlights:

• We see more than 6,000 outpatient epilepsy specialty visits each year
• Our accredited neurophysiology lab performs more than 3,000 electroencephalograms (EEGs) each year
• We admit more than 600 patients each year for video-EEG monitoring in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
• We have the largest pediatric epilepsy surgery program in Dallas, providing:
  • Focal resection
  • Hemispherotomy
  • MSPT
  • Vagal nerve stimulation
• Our Ketogenic diet program offers this intensive epilepsy therapy to more than 50 children each year
• English and Spanish language parent education groups and outreach programs aim to support our patients and their families in the community.
