Unicoronal: Fernando

Fernando presented to the craniofacial team at age 2 years old for evaluation of his head shape. As his photos on the left show, he had a closure of the right coronal suture. The forehead on his right side is flat, the eye opening is wider and the eyebrow is raised because the upper portion of the eye socket is raised. His left coronal suture is open and has compensated for the closed right coronal suture. The extra growth on the left side caused the left forehead and upper part of the eye socket to bulge forward. This makes the left eyebrow appear lower and the eye opening to look narrower. Fernando underwent a fronto-orbital advancement and calvarial vault remodeling at 3 years of age. His 1-year postoperative photos demonstrate a significant improvement in the symmetry between the left and right sides.
