Sagittal Extended Strip: Angel

Sagittal Craniosynostosis Top-250Angel presented at 19 days old. His preoperative pictures on the left show the significant increase in the length of the skull from front to back. There is significant narrowing and loss of height in the back half of the skull resulting in a loss of the normal rounded shape. He was diagnosed with sagittal suture craniosynostosis. Angel underwent an extended strip craniectomy with postoperative helmeting at age 3 months. His one-year postoperative photos at right show an improvement in height and width of the back half of the skull, giving a normal, round shape to the skull. The normal transition in height from the forehead to the back of the skull was also restored.
