Sagittal Extended Strip: Jade Andrea

Sagittal Craniosynostosis Top-250Jade presented to the craniofacial team at 2 months of age for evaluation of her head shape. Some of Jade’s findings may be difficult to see because of her thick hair. Her preoperative photos at left show a full forehead with a pinched look in the temple area. In the top-down view, the abnormally longer and narrow shape to the back of the head are seen. She underwent an extended strip craniectomy with postoperative helmeting at age 4 months. The postoperative views at completion of helmet therapy at right show resolution of the pinched look to the temple area. The width of the back half of the skull is significantly increased, and the back of the head has a rounded, normal appearance.
