Sagittal Extended Strip: Frank

Sagittal Craniosynostosis Top-250Frank presented to the craniofacial team at 9 weeks of age for evaluation of his head shape. His preoperative photos on the left demonstrate a very full forehead with a pinched look in the temple area. The side and top views demonstrate the characteristic long and tall head shape that is abnormally narrow in the back half of the skull. Frank underwent an extended strip craniectomy with postoperative helmeting at age 3 months. His one-year postoperative photos at right show significant improvement in the proportions of the front and back of the skull. The fullness of the forehead and pinched look have resolved. The back half of the skull is taller and wider producing a nice, rounded shape to the back of the head.
