Sagittal Extended Strip: Eli

Sagittal Craniosynostosis Top-250Eli presented to the craniofacial team at age 12 days for evaluation of his head shape. His photos from that visit on the left show a classic schaphocephalic head shape with an abnormally long and narrow head shape, best seen from the top-down view. He was diagnosed with sagittal suture craniosynostosis, and we treated him with extended strip craniectomy and postoperative helmet therapy at age 3 months. His photos at the completion of helmet therapy at right show a normal width and rounded shape to the back of the head. The length and width proportions of the head are normal.
