Our training program has access to one of the nation’s top children's hospitals, a world-class medical school, and other fine healthcare institutions. With the exception of the multiple primary care community sites and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, all facilities are physically joined. Each resident will obtain virtually all of their training under one roof with a diverse group of patients.
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas ranks among the top academic centers in the world. Its faculty members- who are responsible for a broad array of groundbreaking biomedical research advances including work recognized by five Nobel Prizes since 1985- are respected for their dedication to teaching.
Children's Medical Center is staffed for 418 beds and is a private, not-for-profit pediatric hospital dedicated to treating all children, regardless of their ability to pay. Our Emergency room is one of the busiest in the nation, witnessing a diverse array of illness and acuity secondary to our designation as a level I trauma center. Children’s also serves as a large referral center for North Texas and surrounding states. Our level I PICU and CVICU are equiped to provide state of the art medical care including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), central veno-venous hemodialysis (CVVH), and post-transplant management. All of the inpatient teaching services, surgical subspecialty programs, emergency center, and ancillary support services are located at Children’s Medical Center.
Parkland Memorial Hospital is a public health and public service community hospital known for fundamental innovations like their level I trauma designation and the Parkland burn formula. It houses a busy and nationally respected Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Newborn nursery seeing over 10,000 births per year.
