Children's, the primary pediatric teaching facility for UT Southwestern, is devoted to UT Southwestern's training of future generations of pediatricians through its participation in the residency training program. The affiliation between UT Southwestern and Children's provides a unique opportunity for residents to receive training in a world-class academic center with the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of childhood disorders.

At Parkland, residents gain valuable experience in the newborn nursery, neonatal intensive care unit, and intermediate care nurseries. Time spent in the delivery suites also provides excellent neonatal resuscitation experience.
