Our residency program is committed to the professional development of each of our trainees. The mentorship program is part of that commitment.
Each incoming intern is assigned to an experienced faculty mentor who will serve in that capacity for the 3 years of training.
The mentor’s focus is on providing counsel and guidance pertinent to the resident’s development as a pediatrician.
Mentors meet with the mentee four times a year and more often if desired.
Meetings include an opportunity for resident reflection on clinical performance, goal setting for ongoing personal improvement and growth, assessment of personal wellness and work life balance, assistance and support in developing future career plans, and development of the individualized curriculum.
Even though our training program is large, formalized mentorship has ensured that each resident gets the individualized attention needed to successfully navigate residency.
