My family and I attended the parade for the first time last year. I didn't expect to be as overwhelmed with emotions at the parade. I am a success story of Children's Medical Center. As a child, I had two successful heart surgeries at this great hospital. My parents still talk about the experience and how nice and wonderful the staff were during this difficult time for them. As you might imagine, sharing a part of this experience at the parade with my own daughter was exciting, memorable and emotional. The entire parade brought so much joy to all of us, and I was blessed to be alive and to share it with those I love thanks to Children's Medical Center. We are already planning to attend this year's parade, except this time, I am fully prepared with Kleenex for the "expected tears of joy."
